I was reading through a fundie bloggers idea that the same-sex marriage that is going on will bring about God’s judgment.
This blogger was wondering if there is a connection between the ‘rise’ of the “homosexhual agenda” and the natural disasters. This is just as silly as Sharon Stone’s comment that the earthquake in China is because of their treatment of Tibet. I know she apologized for that, but it was still said.
Anyway, the blogger, who shall remain nameless, has wondered about the ‘karma’ that we will endure for letting the ‘gay mafia’ have their way. Reading this bloggers post reminded me of a verse that Jesus said:
Luke 13:1-5 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.“
Basically, I believe he was saying that we all die someday, someone’s sin does not put them in the lineup for death any sooner than another person. “For we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” Not one of us is better than another. Death and disasters happen because we are mortal and earth has a cycle of it’s own.
Which brings me to an article I read in the latest Advocate magazine about the glbt community in Russia that is facing stiff opposition from the ‘christians’ in that area who feel is it justified to punch people and remove the rights of people to speak up. It would appear Russia is simply the ideology that the ‘christian’ fundies would like to have enacted here. Scary stuff!
And to think some fundies think gays are persecuting Christians! How sad and twisted their thinking is.
The thing that gets me is: everything is so vague. Like take for instance Revelations… They refer to a bunch of things that basically can mean absolutely anything if interpreted and twisted the way the person is reading it. Some say Obama is the next evil one who is going to take over the world, put the number of the beast on our hands in order to purchase any food or things that we need to survive. They say that the weather is a result of Revelations- which I can see, but how many times have these “storms” and “earthquakes” rocked our world in the past. History repeats itself.
No doubt – the end times are coming, but we really can’t say that it’s going to happen now.
What if the “evil one” that is going to take over the world already died: Sadam?
It’s so vague.
It also upsets me when people blame catastrophes on other things: such as Christians blaming HIV on the gays when it has generated from another country through animals. Another one would be 9/11, as we’ve discussed. Gays started that? I don’t think any one of those Muslim extremists flying that plane were gay.
I can go on and on, sorry for the long rant. It just ticks me off with this type of thinking. Not you—–the fundies.
